WHY YOU SHOULD BUY EVOLUTIONS "ATLAS" ALUMINUM SKID PLATE!

Volkswagen's oil pans are made of a paper-thin cast aluminum that is easily cracked by many objects such as road debris, manhole covers and speed bumps. While your car may be at stock height, there is only approximately 4 inches of ground clearance with your oil pan. If you are lowered from stock height, there is very little room for error when negotiating an object in your path. Here is some information on this Evolution Aluminum Skid Plate for those of you that haven't seen it before.

4.25 inch hexagon oil drain access hole with removable cover. (Works best with the TDI diesel engines)
The plate is 5052 grade aluminum and is 4.8mm (.191 inches) thick.

Oil Changes: We make it easy for you. If you access your oil filter from the top side of your engine then we recommend that you get this skid plate with the Hexagon oil drain hole. This way you don't have to take the skid plate off at every oil change interval. If you access your oil filter from the bottom side of the engine then we recommend that you get our skid plate that doesn't have the Hexagon oil drain hole. If you would like to see a picture of our Hexagon oil drain access hole please click the "more photos" button above. This skid plate works best with the TDI diesel engines. If you have a gas engine you may want to order the Atlas skid plate that does not have the oil drain hole.

I had the ATLAS Skid Plate installed and the next day drove through the Rocky Mountains via the Crows Nest Pass. Hit a nasty set of rail road tracks at highway speed. My slightly lowered Golf TDI bottomed out and the ATLAS Skid Plate took it with barley a scratch showing after.
Guess the plate payed for itself pretty fast.

I am often driving on logging roads, car fully loaded for camping with a pair of kayaks on the roof. It is a load off my mind to know that the Evolution skid plate is protecting my engine. There have been a number of loud clanging noises when I have hit rocks, but no damage done. So glad I made this purchase.

i was drivivg down the road in the snow when i came up on a landscaping stone it was 8''x8''x10''long and had no way to avoid it. i ran it over and as you can imagine, the front of my car went in the air. my transmission ended up stuck in gear. i drove it home, put it on the lift, took the mangeled up skid plate off and the oil pan didnt even have a scratch on it! i beat the skid plate back to origional, re-installed it and everything was fine! JUST AMAZING!

Easy to follow instructions. Everything falls into place. I was a bit apprehensive when I first got my skid plate, but once I started installing it, it was a pleasure. After installing it, I have to say, IT IS SOLID!!! I'm much more confident now that my oil pan is protected! Thanks Evolution !!!!
